Hi
I have just bought a 2004 Range Rover TD6 ( having defected from the Lotus forum) and was wondering what the options are for chipping the Range Rover. I have heard good things about JE Engineering but was looking for other peoples thoughts and experiences.

Many thanks & I am sure there will be more questions to follow.

JE are great..........but try DMS Automotive aswell as they do a huge amount of work on rolling roads before realising their products. I have had severeal TD6 and TDV6 done by them and it transforms the driveability of what is in it's a natural state a pretty sluggish old truck. The fuel economy is not effected if you drive 'sensibly' but with the power you will always be on teh loud pedal!

Speak to Mike Cooper at DMS, really nice bloke, say Mike Bishop recomended you and he may do you a deal.

Will i have to inform the insurance if it is chipped, or re-mapped? is the re-mapping traceable? Silly questions but thought i would ask.

Cheers

You should inform them............but then again you cannot trace it so no one has nay proof it has been done. But that is only advice!

Anyone else got a chipped Rangey be interested to hear different reports on the following players:

JE Engineering
James French Ltd
Overfinch
Scorpion Racing

Costs, differences it made to your car etc etc.

I'm thinking of the TD6 rather than the petrol

I think your going a bit over the top with some of the companies, all that is required is the new map to be uploaded, superchips is good enough. Most landrover dealerships will have someone, or get it done for you expect to pay £150-300.

Interesting most people think Superchips are too generic and I prefer a marque specialist.

Also with a car worth upwards of £25k i'd rather put it in the hands of someone who knows that brand inside out!

I have a plug and play "chip" thingy from powerclick. Cost £185.

MPG has gone from 22.1 to 26.1. Midrange much better (i can overtake now!)

Whilst I'd use DMS etc for a sports car, for the Rangie I am quite happy with an extra 30bhp for under £200!

£75!
