Hi I'm new to these cars is an airflow meter the same as a throttle body please.

No they are different components. In simple terms airflow meters are the bit with the air filters on and the throttle body is the big aluminium bit that the accelerator cable goes to sTeVeR

They are part of the engine management system - they measure how much air is being sucked into the engine and the temperature of it - this information is then used along with a load of other sensors for the engine management to calculate how much petrol to inject into the engine.

V6 Cat engines don't have airflow meters I found out recently - don't ask me any difficult questions like why.....
