Whats the score with these supercharged monaros blowing oil out through the dipstick. Is it pressure passing the rings?? not good seeing oil over engine bay and white smoke. How many o'rings??. Been chatting to sum people and that does not sound good. Perhaps one for wortec!!.How many have had this problem.

Common issue with FI setups. Its because the manifold on an NA car is 99% of the time at vacuum and can suck out the pressure in the crankcase.
FI setups obviously go above atmospheric and hence dont suck anything at the time. Off boost they will be ok.
You can vent to atmosphere, which is the usual easy way, or vent in front of the intake, but then you can get oil and stuff in the blower mechanism if you havnt got a good catch can kinds of setup, which isnt nice.
There are probably some other ways too.

the "o" ring on the dip stick has been found to go hard over time and contract which results in the stick moving up.

The fix is a new o ring, crimp the pipe a little and there is a clip we now fix if required.

a very small amount of oil on the header makes a lot of smoke!!!!!!

No probs so far, nor have any of the boys i`m in regular contact with who have FI so I guess its not that common.

Common unless a solution has been implemented smile

Even with a bit of insulating tape around the O ring and a quite tight fit in the dip stick holder it will still get pushed out at high revs. Strangly it always seems to happen after a series of roundabouts taken in a spirited fashion. Oil pressure is good and no other oil related problems. Going to Greens on Thursday so hopefully a new dip stick or engine should sort the problem out!wink

My dip stick is held down with cable ties - I took them off once and it blew the dip stick out and covered the underside of the bonnet with oil......

12psi and 4 laps of the ring... no dipstick probs for me so far... driving Is this an issue with the breathers being blocked or do some engines simply not seal as well on the bores as others... possibly down to being driven so carefully when running in resulting in glazed bores...?

Not had this either.

6.0 problem rather than 5.7?

It will depend on blow by for sure, as well as long long its under boost before you back off and vacuum sucks it out etc. Im not sure on the details of the setup, maybe the kits work differently for venting? Im sure one of the Harrop fitters will be able to give technical details on the venting setup smile

Mines 5.7 and it does it.......
Roger told me all the tolerances on my engines rings etc were set to max to make it as free revving as poss - could that be a facter.
She does burn a bit of oil as well - I left a elise in a small cloud of smoke last weekend?
Goes like a dream though.

Dipstick problem sorted with a mod which is basically a clamp over the top of dipstick secured to the holder. According to Greens a common problem!
And now all my little ponies should be back in the stable with my new s/c belt fitted. It's slightly serated on the inside to give more grip. Initial driving response is noticeable with s/c coming on sooner than before. Couldn't really give it any beans today cos of the crap weather. Will try to get it back up to Charlie in the new year and see what the difference really is.driving

Just put a breather on the PCM hose and block off the input into the intake smile
Vent to atmosphere.
Let God sort it out.

Or you can be a responsible green smile
