535d pricing help please

Hi all, I noticed on the Jaguar forum that someone was saying that the 535d can now be got at a heavily discounted price. On Saturday a friend of mine is about to order a new one. Any advice on what sort of deal he can realistically expect?

535d's have always been available with between 8-11% off - it depends on the dealer and the car I suppose....also your mates haggling skills!

Mine's coming in Jan, 14% off list plus 14% off options, UK supplied factory order car, through Alex Creasy at www.newcarclub.co.uk did notice the other day though that BMW no longer on the website dont know why though - could be the chat re BMW stopping dealers supplying brokers but prob worth giving Alex a call regardless, great bloke to deal with

Think you need to check that as I have been told all orders will be supplied at the new terms irrespective of when the car was ordered. And before any one says that they have a signed contract stating the price and discount - read the T and C on the back. I would bet it says something like - 'Price is subject to change providing we give you notice of the increase in writing. You have 30 days from the letter date to accept the new price or cancel your order'

If you factory ordered a new Ferrari 599 with standard brakes and it hasnt gone into production yet it will come with Carbons as these will be standard as of early next year. The increase in your invoice price - £14000.00

Well if they did renege my order and removed discount they'd find themselves with an extra car on their hands to flog. As we enter a downturn, nudge nudge BMW, you might be wanting to increase your discounts next year not reduce them!

If life's so rosy how come I could order a factory slot in August for Nov/Dec delivery with such a big discount when the economic outlook was a hell of a lot better than it is now? If you're so positive how come you do so much business on here pricematching brokers? Surely you should be rushed off your feet in the showroom selling at list to that long snaking list of punters with cash in their pockets?!

I spoke to drive the deal yesterday, they would not confirm that they could source the car I wanted. If a dealer had one then yes, if it was a factory order then no.

They are waiting to see what bmw say, however they do claim that they will be able to'do something'.

Have you tried speaking to a dealer? You might give it a try, pick carefully though..

My retort was to your daft comment on increasing discounts.

I don't price match brokers on 'ere as you say, I try and help fellow PHer's get a good deal at the same time help gain customers who would never in a billion years walk into my dealership.

There is more to a deal than the discount.

check out www.broadspeed.com - you speak directly to the supplying dealer, not an agency. Might be a good starting point. I used their prices as a good starting point with my local dealer when buying mine.
