I really miss driving my Ultima in the winter

I dont tax my Ultima for the winter and to be honest i really miss driving it...
1 anyone who drives there Ultima through the winter is it ok ie grip etc
2 does the cold/salt do a lot of damage
i had a little go in one last weekend (no names at the mo) and it made me realise how much i miss driving mine.

This is the first year that I have not SORN mine, normally come off the road the end of October. The biggest thing I find you need to watch for is the grip, in a lot of places recently there has been very little! Having said that my daily driver has been having the same issues, the roads in general and roundabouts in particular seem to have been bad with all the wet weather in the last month. But, as TuxMan has said, when the roads are dry and the sun is out it makes it all worthwhile 
. But also be aware of cold tyres on a cold road, even when dry, I can easily break traction in 1st and 2nd. Just be carefull.

Hope to get mine out for a spin or two next week. I have a whole week to play with the car and finish off some work in the garage. I just hope I get at least one dry day to have some fun!. It's back on the rollers the following weekend to finish off the mapping and get some new HP figures. It should now make 1 bar boost and I hope to get over 550BHP this time. I want to see what the car is like with this level of power before deciding to to up the boost any higher. I will be finishing off the traction control this winter and fitting my water/methanol injection kit.
And helping Kyle with his new engine!

I've never SORN'd mine in over 3 years of ownership.
For one thing I can't be bothered with the forms! The other, like Tuxman said, it can be great fun when it's cold
I would never drive mine if there was salt on the roads, though. It can play havoc with all sorts of mettalic bits on the car.

The GTW was first put in to service on Boxing Day last year and I for one don't think that these cars are half as bad in grim conditions as most would have you believe. Sure, if you are a little heavy on the loud pedal you will soon know how easy things can all go to sh*t but I can find myself in a similar position in my Fiat Panda if I am not behaving accordingly. For me the turnoff is damage caused to the car by the elements/road salt and for that reason alone the GTW stays in the garage during this time of year

8-10 inches of snow here, roads were partially clean. It was nerve wracking. I was grinning the whole way. I made it home just in time, got more snow last night.
Did I mention I hate Chicago area winters.

God, was it cold there that day!!?
Managed a blast in mine yesterday in cold and slightly damp conditions.
It's been a few weeks since I have driven it but there seemed to be a noticable increase in power - perhaps it's the colder, denser air ? (does anyone have any info on this ?). The engine note has changed slightly too, with a deeper growl than before. Sounds great !
It took some time to get heat into the tyres and the engine temp didn't get past 85 degrees during the 30 min run. Didn't need the heater though !
Oodles of wheelspin in first, second and third. Still very pleased at how well the GTR stays in a straight line under wheelspin, no tendancy to throw the unskilled driver (me) into the nearest hedge.
