Hi All,

Just added this to the Classifieds : http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/309655.htm

As I was originally planning to head down the LS7 route.

May have other plans now so thought someone else on here might be interested as there seem to be many new builders looking to use the LS7 option.

This is just a passing rant about personalized plates smile Firstly, putting "L57" on an LS7 powered Ultima is a good idea, it tells something unique about your car. I like it. But, I've never understood the sense in people putting something blatantly obvious on a plate. For instance, I saw a Porsche Boxster running around town with "BOXSTER" on the plate. Well, yeah it's a Boxster. OK? What sense does that make? It says Boxster right above the plate. If I'm going to spend money to put a personal message on a plate, I'd rather put something that tells something unique about this car, or the person driving it.

Last year I saw an Ultima GTR with "Over 200" on the plate. Now that is a good plate, it shows the car's capability, and gives some insight about the owner's need for speed. "ULT GTR" or something similar just wouldn't make sense to me, what's the point?

hey if you dont like it dont buy it?

ive never understood why people get so upset by material things? Just because you cant see the point doesnt make it less apealing for somebody else?

why should you find it annoying that somebody has 'boxster' written on therye number plate.. surely youve got other things to worry about?!

personally I was just looking for something that fits in three letters...

I agree that there are a lot of dodgy private plates out there.
I particularly like the ones people bring in from the Channel Islands (I think) which have Baz/Kaz and some random numbers smile

Done tastefully I think they can add something to a car.
This plate appealed to me as it works on more than one level depending on the spacing or even just look like a standard plate with just the three R's giving it something a bit special.

It was the R's that appealed the most as 'R' has always been used to designate a performance model from GTR, to SLR to GSX-R etc.

If it doesn't sell then I will be very happy to use it on my car in non LS7 spacing as I still feel it will make the car that bit more unique.
I also don't have to put some random plate the man from VOSA has assigned me on there.
This gives me a small amount of pleasure in being able to exercise some personal choice and tell VOSA to cram there designated plate somewhere uncomfortable cool

Maybe I have been listening to too much RATM lately .......

Custom plates are new in Hong Kong and relatively easy to get decent ones. You make an application with a GB300 deposit, then the govt has an auction and you have to bid for it, but if nobody bids you get it for GB300. If you lose the auction you get your GB300 back.

I'm gonna try for BATMAN.

I didn't say I get upset or worry about it. It's just a rant. It's the same sense as stamping "towel" on your towels. smile

I've seen some very good plates in an Oz magazine (cars for sale etc). Once saw a vette with SLAYER on the plate. I assume it was an original plate.

i have V8 8 GTR, on mine and it makes perfect sense to me and many others on here. 'over 200' imo is crap!! why would you want to tell anyone you smoke over 200 fags a day??? it is all in the eye of the beholder

LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!!!!!!!!
