Apologies for a probably numpty question, but I’ve only had it a week I’m still waiting for the manual to arrive.

Symptom: Hydraulic fluid from the reservoir at the top of the steering shaft, spoffed all over the surrounding area. Steering fooking heavy.

Cause: Probably had it on full lock too much at an off road day. Only just picked up on the ‘30 seconds on lock’ issue with Land Rover steering systems.

Thoughts: I haven’t had chance to check all the hoses, but does this sound like I’ve knackered the PAS Pump, and it ‘exploded’. Or is it likely to have just blown a seal / hose?

All constructive thoughts gratefully received.

PS: Apart from this it’s bally awesome.

That's the one.

Hope you are well Simon.

Any thoughts?

PS: It was truly great on the off road course.

Hi,

To be honest no, I've never even heard of that problem before, my approach would be to top it up, and see what happens. Glad you enjoyed the off road course that's what V8 Landies are for smile

Try refilling it first - STP used to do a power steering fluid that was designed to revive old hardened seals and it worked well on my old 90 V8, but that only leaked the odd drop, not large quantities. They definitely don't like being held on full lock - even in normal driving I tend ease off a few degrees once I get to full lock. Failing that try Slick 50 Power Steering Fluid from Halfrauds as that's supposed to reduce leaks. Worth a try before you resort to more seriously wallet-bending replacements!
