I currently own a 2001 (Y-reg?) Focus 1.6 (impressive i kno), basically there are several problems i've noticed over the last couple of days.
- Engine hesistating or cyclinders not firing in time?
- Speedo jumping high then back down to normal on acceleration
- speaker crackling only on acceleration
- door light comes on now and then
- interior light doesnt work now and then, (fine when first unlocked and started)??
- Rear window button light works now and then, (fine when first unlocked and started)??

Any ideas? Please help as i've got a 200 mile drive home and my main concern is the engine stop working on the motorway,

Cheers,

Tom

Thats quite a list! Sounds like you've got an earth problem, and a trip to an auto electricians might not be a bad bet.

If it were me, I'd reset the ECU. I dont know the best way to do it on a Focus, but I did it on my Mondy by whipping the battery off and leaving it for a bit.

Battery terminals next, then the fuse box (more than 1 on a Focus??) to see if anythings blown

It sounds like a voltage spike from the spark plugs, change them first.

A friend had a similar problem that turned out be corroded wires
going to the battery connection. I think there are 3 or 4 small
wires connected to the positive terminal try giving them a clean up.
Worth a try.

Hey Jon,

My speakers have started to crackle on load again (not as bad) plus i caught the speedo jumping again. Its only just happen a couple of times but i fear its the same problem? Anything else that you can think of that might be causing this? Coilpack?

Cheers,

Tom
