Are we close to knowing what rubber we are going to be on and what the deal is?

Mid-Jan is a long time to wait so I've had to order a set of tyres to get the car prepared and out for a couple of shake downs as I go to bigger rubber and a different suspension set-up etc...I do hope that we move to Hangzhou Zhongee Rubber silly or I'll have wasted my money.

Yo should do what I do - every morning the postman leaves a rubber band round my mail - even if it is only a single letter. I used to bundle these up to make a solid ball that takes amusing amounts of spin, but no more.

Now I simply put each rubber band round a spare wheel rim. In time I will have a super sticky slick that is impervious to pressure changes. I can also change the compound at a whim, simply by changing the outer elastic bands.

Simple, cheap and effective. The red tyres do look a bit odd though hehe

I dont know all these people buying new tyres....I can get a couple of years out of mine, although I do find that the canvas sticking through is handy for grip if you ever end up on the grass hehe..

Two seasons eh??

That's one of the reasons for my change, apart from more grip, the poor 210's were at their limit and just kept shredding on acceleration, corners and braking, so hopefully the bigger ones will last better!! I had to buy four sets last season.

4 sets ouch... Realistically 2 sets should be reasonable per year ( certainly on my tuscan using the 10" rears). Giving the best compromise between cost and performance. By the time I take my tyres off they are totalled, but needs must, and I spend a fair amount of time with the tyre softner... hehe

Obviously money no object a new set at each round ( and the soft ones) is preferable..

I started this season on new fronts ( had to change them as the canvas was winking at me!!!) and 8 race old rears... I was gutted to have to change the rears after my single lap on the sat practice at Rockingham as I picked up a puncture...

I do remember going though 5 sets on the taz when we won the class with that but those tyres were crap......
