Hi all, i'm wanting to down gear my 04 CBR600RR to give it a bit more acceleration, i'm not bothered bout it losing a few mph at the top. I've been told that a standard rear sprocket with a 15tooth front (16tooth standard) wil give me that extra bit acceleration, even wheelying off the throttle in 2nd. A 520 chain was also recommended. Also i've heard theres a 'Yellow box' to adjust the speedo to normal after down gearing? Any help or advice would be great!!!

I went down one tooth on my 600 Yamaha and it was much improved: better in town, could leave it in a higher gear when overtaking, etc, and it wasn't a big enough 'drop' to necessitate shortening the chain. I doubt whether you'll be wheelying in second, but we live in hope...

Can't advise on your speedo, mine's driven off the front wheel.

I've gone One less on the front and Two extra on the rear, of my 03 600RR.

It'll still do 140 ish.

There's a gizmo called "Speedo healer", alter the gearing and you'll not get a true reading.
