Blimey - haven't seen on in a main dealer for a while. It looks lovely...I've always regretted not buying one instead of the Golf R32 that I ended up with at the time! But the price seems a bit rich, given the values of 6 month old Z4Ms at the moment.

I keep an eye out, I kind of thought it might be actually a cheap way to pick one up. In the last 8 months it's the first one I've seen. It's also on the steep side of hugely expensive.

Why would it make us laugh?

Of the total of 3448 Z3 M Coupes ever produced (excluding the S52 engined US version), only 168 were RHD S54 engined ones (from 02/2001 to 05/2002).

This means exclusivity and abundance of character...

Having driven both the coupe and the roadster both at the time and more recently I know they are fun, have bags of character and all that tosh, with the best will in the world they ain't worth 24k.

Would one expect anything less from that dealership?!

Look what they've done with Z8s?

If one has a large buying capacity one can then actually artifically make something "rare and exclusive" by buying up all available stock and then only releasing onto the market in drips and drabs at an artificially engineered and inflated price.

That's just what De Beers have done with diamonds for decades. Diamonds aren't rare...De Beers have 'made' them rare and valuable.

And that's just what said dealership have done with Z8s. It's so simple I can't believe people haven't seen through it; ignored it and bought other 'stuff' leaving them high and dry with a load of Z8s that they can't sell until they sell them at proper 'secondhand prices'.

Looks from the above that they may be squaring up to do the same on Z3 Coupes.

Best advice?...Ignore the car!

Hexagon have always tried to charge huge prices for some pretty ordinary stuff. That car will sit there for months because you can buy the same elsewhere for 25-30% less. How they remain as a BMW main dealer amaze me.

Hexagon had an E39 M5 that they paid £37k for a had to trade out for £17k. They kept it for 11 months. So it doesnt always work.

Didn't they also recently get named as the most expensive garage in the UK for getting your car repaired? Assuming they mean bodyshop rather than workshop, something like £180/hour.

Highgate BMW - no surprise, jokers of the highest order

went to look at a 120d a few months back and before I'd been shown the car the salesman was talking me through the finance options even though I said it would be a cash purchase

My Alpina was maintained by Hexagon of Highgate prior to my ownership.

Looking through the old invoices, it's an eye opener.

Of particular note was the Oil Service around the mid 40k mile mark (which on a B3 3.3 notionally costs the same as a 328/330).

How they managed to make it end up at £1890 and still not replace anything of any note is beyond me.

I try and look at it from the point of view that if you pay top price+ for a car and it is a minter, the only downer will be that you paid more than you might have bought it for elsewhere but at least it is a prime example. If on the other hand you pay less than the going rate and end up with a pig, where is the deal?
The majority on here are fairly well genned up with regards to pricing but it is not that way for everyone and if you can afford to pay well over the odds and are happy to in the knowledge that you will not get a better example then good luck to you. thumbup
Thieving dealers, on the other hand, are a different kettle of fish! shoot

It goes like this: E36 M3 Evo front suspension + 321/325 bhp engine (S50B32 or S54B32) + the E30 M3 rear suspension + LSD = big time fun!

See Evo reviews of their long-termer or TopGear driver's car award
