Hi guys, we have provisionally booked Buckmore Park Karting Circuit for the evening of Saturday 12th April 2008, for a 2-hour endurance race between different car clubs / manufacturers. The reason we have chosen this date is that it is the weekend of the Detling Kit Car show (only 15 minutes away) so many cars / clubs / drivers will be in the area that weekend. The idea is teams will be entered under their club / marque name for clarity and hopefully a magazine feature or two. With any luck we will get Pistonhead teams, Fury, MK, Cobra, Westfield ect. and dare I say it Adrenalin motorsport, Z-cars and other manufacturers entering as well as the likes of Lotus-on-Track. And to keep it FUN we will ban Pit-to-kart radios and insist *Most* entrants must be affiliated to the club / manufacturers ie. NO RINGERS!!! (of course if you yourself are a pro kart racer that is absolutely fine) OK for a few brothers / sisters ect. to make the numbers up, but keep it in the spirit please! If there is enough interest then it could be a great night. The cost is around £185 per team, which can be split between 2, 3 or 4 people, it is up to you how many, it is the same price. The balance for your team will need to be paid direct to Buckmore Park early in January. So get organising a team, to gauge interest please mention here if you MIGHT be interested (no obligation), but PLEASE not if you have no intention of actually doing it. There is quite a financial risk to hire the place, so please be helpful! We need at least 15 teams to go ahead, but then upto 35 teams can actually take part if required. Already there are several teams committed from Team GTM and various Sylva derived cars, so come and have a great evening after a great show.

CKC Crew,

Surely you are not going to release the 'Stentmeister' in a kart?

Although I see the plan here, as with the gentleman drivers at Le Mans and the like;

Ian is the team owner who is full of enthusiasm and you Adam are the professional driver brought in to sort out the mess and dismal track position that the team owner leaves the car in after his stint..........

Actually having considered it for a moment, Ian is about the same size as The Stig....?.....

Let the rivalry begin!

NY.

Great guys, should safely make the 15 teams in order to go ahead, I have a feeling we will however, make the full 35....... 35 Karts in the first hairpin at Buckmore is...ahem...very interesting!

Looks like there's going to be as much rivalry within teams as there will be between them smile We also have a secret weapon in the form of Scott, one of our graphic designers, who is pretty handy behind the wheel...

I can't wait for April!

Well, it seems that Team GTM have 2 teams already. The Sylva Register / Jeremy Philiips Sporstcar Club have a couple of teams also. That leaves my other two places of residence, PistonHeads and Lotus-on-track. Bearing in mind i now have a "Sylva" Phoenix,...... Oh, buggered if I know. I should really go with what I drive now to represent myself properly, but nobody has asked me formally to be on their team BOO HOO!........... Ben Holt said I was too slow for his team!!! Cheeky Monkey.

Adrenalin Motorsport and CKC magazine are entering teams also. When the event comes out in the press is should get interesting with the teams.

OK guys, BOOKING IS OPEN!

I have also, rather than the ProKarts, managed to secure the use of their ThunderKarts, which are their fastest hire-race karts, for just £195 (normally these are £230 in 2008). Everyone will be in these faster Karts (someimes they run both at once). The track should get quite a bit of good publicity in the Kit-Car press, so they have been kind to us!

To Book:

Call Buckmore Park direct on 0845 603 7964. Ask for Jackie, and the Specialist Sportscar Event. I would advise boking quickly (ie before this weekend) to secure your teams as the adverts are coming out in the Kit Car Magazines imminently. Only limited places, but info is on here first so everyone should get a slot. Post up if you are booked in please!

I gather they may be a bit more inter-magazine rivalry happening.... :-)

Hi Neil, unfortunately know what you mean. It took me a few attempts, only Jackie (probobly spelt Jaqui, just like on her birth certificate.....NOT) seems to know about this event. She rang me up asking for £1,500 deposit as she had not recieved too many payments. I kindly told her thats because at least 5 of us could not get through as she was in a meeting all day. I believe at least 10 teams have now paid, I apologise but try again to speak to her directly. I will call tomorrow and raise the issue with her.

I was going to say hi at the Autosport on thursday, you were busy but I spoke to one of you colleagues. Hope you sold a few!

We are booked in, Team from 'Pistonheads Estuary' (Kent/Essex).

Incidentally, Jackie at Buckmore Park is on holiday, but went straight through & booking process was very simple.

See you there on 12th April - arrive 4.45pm for briefing and kitting up the kart with subs, woofers & neon.
