X TYPE 3 LITRE - GOOD VALUE POWER INCREASE AVAILABLE?
Discussion
Has anyone yet found a way of releasing a useful increase in accelerative torque to transform this car into an alternative S-'R' for those who prefer the younger styling of the X?
This engine has been picked by a number of tuners at the higher end - presumably now that Noble have switched their engine in the never ending thirst for ever larger performance / profit, presumably their supplier may well be interested in offering a 1/2 way house upgrade - anyone recall who the tuner was - lost my notes.
Other alternatives - and I dont mean the usual chip and exhaust for several £ thousand brigade..!

The American boys are the tuning fanatics but even on roadfly the X type community can't find anything to vastly improve the performance, the X's achilles heel is the AWD transfer box not the engine as you pointed out what Noble has done with the duratec unit. Maybe somebody will convert an X into RWD and then they could beef up the power, but the cost may as well be spent on buying an S type R

I know a guy who got an Arden conversion on a 3 litre X-Type and he seemed quite happy, but I don't know the detail. Deals on the RWD S-Type R are terrific just now though, so I second that.
There was an article in either JEC or JDC a while ago where someone was getting some obscene level of power out of an X-Type. Amongst other things I think it included using nitro.Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
