o.k so i live up in Nottingham and went away with the missus to london for a weekend trip last weekend. So filled the T350 up and set on down to london. Everythings going great and no problems.

So the hotel was in the centre of london and as i hit the M25 round realized i had 6 litres of petrol and needed to refil. Pulled into first petrol station to find out that all the nozzles were a different design and to wide to fit in my petrol cap. I thought must be odd station..

From that point on the M25 east all the way into central london i stopped at 4 petrol stations. None of them had normal nozzles to fill the car!!

I had to buy a £5 petrol can. Fill the petrol can and then fill my car using eht petrol can over and over again. It was the stupidest thing ever.

On the way back stopped at the first petrol station on the M1 north and back to normal thank god!

How does everyone fill there tvr's up that live near london?!? Really strange thing i found.

Well let me explain....

Lets say a normal nozzle looks like this:

Do you see about half way up where there is a join in the metal? Well on all the pumps we tried that bit got thicker by around 1" and carried on up to the handle. It was like a security metal sleave bolted around the top half.

Now on the T350 the nozzle only just fits as it is. So when trying to put it in it just hit on the paint work and couldnt fill it up.

This was Hammersmith way.. go try its crazy!

Yea 3 of the stations we tried were BP thats right.

Even got the staff to come check the nozzles as i left about £10 worth of petrol on the floor trying which i refused to pay for. They were no help mind.

I thought all nozzles were standard sized, to try and help prevent wrong fuel in wrong cars etc . . .

Maybe just an urban myth then confused

only eve used those to fill my old commuter barge up with LPG, so can't comment filling a TVR there. if they're the shaped nozzles to stop accidental filling with the wrong fuel, then there's a definite knack to getting them into the filler neck on a tvr. ie, it will only go in fully at a certain angle, which isn't that easy vertically.

Well in all fairness how many cars have a hole that only just fits a pump! Its insanely small and you probably wouldnt notice on other cars.

Was a pain mind.

Yea a 350 it quiet literally sat entirely over the hole covering even the metal surround. There was no movement or any way of filling it.. Good job the petrol can i bought did the job. Might take it with me next time. lol.

I going to take a photo next time i doing it to show this cause its about as random as it gets.

In my hand book it says that the filler diameter is the smaller size of unleaded petrol nozzles so that the mistake cant be made of putting in leaded.
I know you cant get leaded anymore so it does seem strange.
Never had this problem before myself.

I fear you might be a bit mental - but if you're not, take the black nozzle from the filler can, put it over the Super Unleaded nozzle and fill away - job done.

I still fear you're nuts though - sorry.

I filled my car at a BP in Bromley last night & I see what the OP meant, as the nozzle does have a thicker section about half way up its length. Its not an extra inch though, I would say its half that overall but I can see why it might not fit all the way in on a T350 - but why does it need to? Theres still a good 3-4 inches of the nozzle at the normal size & I would have thought that would be enough.

I wonder if BP have new pumps & these are the first of the batch, or if they've always been like that & we havent noticed?

Good news is...still fits in the Griffbiggrin
