I'm sure this has been asked before, but why is my Chim classified as PLG and road taxed at only £180/year?

The stringent Road Tax only applies to vehicles made after sometime in 2001 (January I think)
Makes me smug as my MD has just bought a new Lexus with a 3 litre lump and has to pay close to £300 whereas my fire-snorting, tyre shredding 1998 5 Litre Chim "only" costs me £180 per year!! laugh

I think age has something to with it..

If you are ever attacked by 'Swampies' do point out that there are more carbon emissions in manufacture than in use - so we are in fact extremely 'green' having cars that last more than 3 years hehe

An anwser to a letter in the Daily Mail last week as ked about CO2 emissions and comparing people CO2 emmissions between people and cars.

Also the comparisons between walking and running. More CO2 per minute if running but for a shorter time. I thinkls runners came out worse.

It also transpires that 5 people running say for 4Ks produce more CO2 than a a gas guzzler doing the same 4K.

The point being they should tax runners £300

cant find the copy of the mail it was in as it has now ben recycled

Here is the "official" story from the government:-

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicl...

If they made a new TVR today chances are it would be in the £300.00 bracket, mind you if you can afford the car the RFL is neither here nor there!
