All new STI or EVO X ??? Latest Tsukuba lap times!!!
Discussion
Not much of a surprise really when the Evo has put on 150kg over the old one. The STI on the other hand is apparently slightly lighter than the old and with a lower c.o.g, but was still slower round the track. May be also partly the conditions weren't as good for a quick laptime on the day though (just speculating on that).
I'd like to see the old STi verses the new STi at the same track that way it doesn't matter what the conditions are. Never mind the EVO bollox although i still like the look of it, are Scooby fans getting more bang and performance per buck/bhp or not??
It is better than the old one....and i'm not talking looks. If the old 265bhp STi is quicker than the new 300bhp STi round a track or in a straight line then i know where my money would be going.
If so..... a 265bhp 2007 STi beefed up to 300bhp would murder the new hatchback STi. Hang on to your old Scooby's, i stick to what i have said in the past..... residuals on old scooby's will hold fast!!

I agree mate, the well known scoob design is dead and this new car has to drive your socks off to become more desirable than the outgoing car. If it cant do that, i have to be honest i wouldnt be too concerned with residuals on the car i have nowIt is better than the old one....and i'm not talking looks. Ben.... I'm talking British/EDM cars mate!!! Not JDM
Not forgetting we always get the raw end of the deal with official UK spec cars being well underpowered and under specced compared to JDM. Then we have to turn to companies like Prodrive to beef them up for us so they are as good as the JDM spec cars or buy an import.
Best get back to the sheep now Ben...they're waiting to be turned into NZ Lamb for whinging pom's dinner plates!! Maybe while you're at it you could knock down a few sheep with that old cart of yours and send them over, maybe a few kiwi fruit too if you haven't eaten them all

Given that the thread topic was Tsukuba lap times I somehow think they weren't using UK/EU cars...
Fair enough that you'll compare them with what you get though, but hey your new STi might still only have 265 bhp too
PS prefer eating the sheep myself even if it means less to send over for you lot

To be honest Ben it doesn't matter to me too much how the jdm versions get on although it's nice to know i suppose that it's a bit quicker than the EVO, and although we were talking about Tsukuba and JDM i was more directing my comments RE: EDM cars
THe EDM version coming in 2009 i believe will actually be 300bhp (which i heard from my local Subaru stealership) although you never know about these things so we'll wait and see on that one. It would be good though to match the JDM cars as then power upgrades to 400bhp aren't so much of a big thing and hopefully would cost a bit less than trying to get the old STi upto the same levels.
As for the sheep.....I prefer NZ Lamb to Aussie Lamb of which i had a leg of recently, and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as the NZ. NZ Lamb is much more succulent and tasty, so....don't eat them all please, and leave some for whinging poms
