does anyone the best insurance company for a 18 year old on a defender.

because the best quote i could find was £3500 which is far too much to
pay for a defender.

Try the NFU (National Farmers Union), you may have to join (as a NFU Countryside member it costs £35 per year) but you should get a decent price

spent almost a day calling round for insurance on the range rover on tuesday.

I have NO no claims (never had a car long enough to get a full year out of it) and I have 2 claims, one for 25,000 in feb 07 when i wrote of a 911 and a rather large speeding fine, although I do have another landrover so I think that helps.

these guys where the best http://www.sureterm.com/4x4.php

they specialise in landrover insurance just say you will join a land rover club (a free one) and you get 15% discount.

yikes

We looked at that and the "child" had to be over 25 and have their own car with insurance...
with all the Land Rover specialists companies
