Dual Phase Injectors

Hi all just looking at the cummins QSM11 engine, and i cnat find anywhere that tell you how it works. I know it has unique dual phase intjectors, can anyone tell me how they work or where i might find any information on them?

Dual phase seems to imply that 2 injectors are fires together..

Many race cars like the Sierra Cosworth had dual injectors - 1 small injectors for low to medium speed placed near the valve and the other large injector for high rpm placed higher up the inlet system (like F1).

This is simply pilot injection which is used on all modern car diesel engines to improve refinement and help reduce the diesel clatter.
