If you are drunk you shouldn't go NEAR your car - you can be done if plod thinks you're "in charge" of it!

Surely only if you're on the highway,not if you're on private property, ie in your garage / drive?

Given the scope for people to break into every Tuscan out there is this a thread to delete Ted?

Brother in law was busted for sleeping in his car on his friends drive - had keys on him (not attempting to drive) so they got him for drunk in charge of a motor vehicle - lots of points and a ban. Also it might be worth deleting the 'secret' opening method!

Hoganscrogan is correct. My father had someone in front of the bench for this. This case was dismissed because of lack of evidence but you can be prosecuted for being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle irrespective of not being on a public road.
I think anyone thinking of nicking Tivs will have known the "trick," it's been fairly widely publicised...
