Ok, I must be missing something obvious. I'm used to dragging/moving one image or layer from one picture to another one (ie shift-drag and move tool) - however, I normally rescale the image once it's in the new document. What I'm trying to do now is to move say a 5cmx5cm image into a new document and keep it at 5cmx5cm (the target is A4). What PS (well, Elements actually) is doing is resizing the dragged image - sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller. If I have a load of pre-sized images that I want to move, it's a real pain to have to then resize them back to what they should be once they are in the target document.

Hope the above makes sense...

What am I doing wrong?

All i can think of is that your zoom levels are different in the 2 images.

nope - even with both at 100% it still doesn't drag over at the same size as the original frown

Are the resolution of the pictures the same?

funnily Andy - I just noticed that they aren'tfrown Which, as an example, means that the 5x5 image which is at 167.132pixels/inch in the original, becomes 2.79cmx2.79cm at 300pixels/inch in the target.
So, since all the source files are different sizes (crops of originals) and therefore have become different resolutions (fortunately, normally >300ppi) is there a easy way I can do the moving without having to resize again in the target?

Just change the resolution of all images to 300dpi before moving them making sure that they stay the same'physical' size. Shouuld work the when you drop and drag, personally i prefer to 'apple c' then 'apple v' when i'm copying images for some reason.
