Donkeasy - Lots going on with this build - you’re going to have a very special car when done. I am interested in the Fuel Tank mod. What size tank is that? - I assume you will be running a single tank. I ask because I am currently investigating alternative fuel tank options as I wish to fit a dry-break fuelling system for race use but am looking to carry 120 litres.

Hello,

I have two soft tanks FT2 PC01 tanks of 30 liter each on one side in a thin steel tank.
Will use a catchtank of 15 liter. So that's about 75 liter.
You can put two more of these in the sidepot's

If you want to carry a 90 to 120 liter tank, you can use the passenger-seat area.

I saw an advert of somebody once for two special bigger ATL soft tanks in the sidepots aside the driver and passenger.

Thanks for that. I was hoping keep the passenger seat area clear for the occasional trackday and maybe road use again. Looking at your mod gives me a few ideas though I will have to move my oil cooler radiator and do a bit of fabrication.

I will use the car also for trackdays,
and want to keep the passengerseat where it should be,
that's why I putted them in the original place.

also the bigger catchtank is a good idea I think.

Note: normally longdistance race car are equipted with a 90 liter tank, why 120 liter?

Britcar in the UK for 2008 specifies largest tank of 120L.
The races are typically 120 mins in length and although 2 Pit stops in a 2 hour race are mandatory for the class the Ultima would be eligible for the fuel refills would add a considerable amount of time. You are limited to 2 churns of 25L per stop and this is done in a remote part of the pit lane and therefore driver change etc is not part of this process.
In a 45 min race with standard tanks my car went across the line spluttering for fuel - Hopefully I will address the fuel economy but even so for the standard tanks not to last an hour I will be struggling in a 2 hour race.

Isn't there enough room in-front of a Audi engine (It's 6" shorter than a Chevy) to go across the rear bulkhead ?? as in more central position, lower polar moment of inertia more of a F1 stile position.....ect ect

the thing is that when you use the 8 cilinder with the original audi gearbox you can easely put a big tank in there.
But mine is a V10 (bitlonger) and I use the porschegearbox (also a bitlonger)
And then ther is 20 cenimetr room left.
I couldn't find a FIA homogated tank to fit in there.

And with a Alluminium or steel tank in front of the engine,
with somebody hitting my car from behind,
let's say it would give a big splash and dash.

Ah V10......they do a Bag tank thats fitts behind the seats..... but don't ask the price..
