Field sales jobs aren't easy to get into - and they're not easy once you're in.
If you want a life of pounding motorways and constantly being stressed about meeting targets (salaries are low, the real money is in hitting targets) then fine, but you'll feel like an OAP by the time you're 40.
My current job falls half way between sales and retail management - it suits me, but it does cause lots of stress in terms of getting places through the traffic. (We have a service level agreement with our customers)
I've recently been applying for field sales roles, and have been rejected for around 10 positions so far, despite relevant field experience.
Good luck, you'll need it just to get an interview.

Good break into field sales is Waste management - Biffa or Veoilia.
Always looking for staff, you need to generate you own leads (easy, as all businessess need to deal with waste, and legislation is changing)
When I got my job with Biffa, they enjoyed the fact I have motor trade expereience, it means I don't forget to ask for the businesses
Now moved on (still in the waste industry) but Biffa gave me the leg up into the industry.
