You can't 'sit' your CBT on the 250 but you can pass your CBT,then the actual 'bike test' on a 125cc,then you can restrict your 250 to 33hp,ride that for two years like that, then you can ride anything!I think?

yup if you take the restricted test your limited to 33bhp i think there is also a cc limit but im not sure. after two years its a full licence.

ooh, restrict the bike up from the 30bhp it has as standard (22.2kw x 1.3410 = <30bhp)

Thats a bargain. I am sure the ZZR250 was not much less than that 15 years ago. Im almost tempted to say even the GPX before that was over 2k but I didnt get into bikes til 1990.

Very true..
I think from looking at MCN they have kept the underlying technology pretty simple and put it in a very smart package.. I think the ZZR looked alot like the 600 model i had and im sure that bodywork etc was pretty expensive..
Saying that the zzr redlined at 14500 rpm so i recon it screamed a bit.. :-)

Anyway back to the 250r i recon it'll be a great little thing to gain some experience on and not intimidate you.. and you still look cool.

Yes indeed but from memory (determined to get this thread firmly back to 1990 lol) 4T 250s are a bit of an anticlimax after a year or so on a derestricted 125 2T...

That said, if you have done your training on a 4 stroke 125 then I am sure this 250R will feel quite rapid and I agree it looks pretty cool.

Personally if it was me I would go for an older FZR250R or Hornet 250, just for the redline (16-18k) evil
