I've transfered my own plate on to the new chim, and that goes over on Wednesday, so i have just tonight made a new set of plates, what i want to know is, are the plates sealed with mastic to the car?

looking at mine, it does seem to be but im unsure if this is supposed to be or not ?

Double sided tape or velcro(plod reasons)is all you need.

That was kind of my thinking, as when i had the car i had to use this way in, and thought then it was a silly idea. but wasnt sure if it was just mine or if they all had them done.

cheers for the answer, will be cleaning mine and putting the new ones without sealant

thanks mate

Where did u get the translusent backing out of interest? We've just started making plates at work and i've been told this backing is now illegal - much to my dismay as i need new ones for my chim frown
There are some still around apparantly if you can get your hands on them so i'm definately after a few if you know of any?

I have them from a supplier of mine, not sure where they get them from, but i now they buy them in mate.

Try Irish suppliers, as the laws there differ

I've used Fancy Plates for transparent, rear lit plates, very helpful and no probs.

There isn't anyone in the Rep. of Ireland that I know of doing them - Irish plates are quite different although Fancy Plates will do Irish Plates as well.

I understood it was a 3M product.

Any sign company should be able to make them for you.

They use translucent lightbox material for them.

That should be a cheap option.

Thanks for that.
I'm just working out my finances to see if they will stretch to a private plate aswell.
The current plate is a bit knackered around the edges and new one would freshen it up no end.

Do you know where I could get a front plate made up that is slightly smaller than the original? My intention is not to get in trouble from the boys in blue but more increase the size of the chimps mouth slightly to get more airflow around the engine.

Cheers,
Lee.
