Just got home and turned on the laptop and no joy. I click my name to log on, on XP and I type in my password and it just freezes once I hit enter.

I really have no idea where to start, so any ideas would be great!

Will you muppet hehe

So it boots up from cold to the login screen okay? Just freezes up upon logging in?

Have you tried it with everything disconnected bar the power supply?

Also, can you login via safe mode. Will be a BIOS option during computer boot, manual will tell you how. Safe mode is windows running at it's bare minimum. From within here you can change what programs start up during windows (Start/ run/ msconfig/ startup). Run a virus/ spyware/adware scan (Spybot Search and Destroy) and basicly figure out anything that is amiss.

That's where I would start off the top of my head.

Cheers David,

All fine now after using safe mode. Booted back in normal mode and it's fine.

It's obviously not happy with all the work i'm making it do at the moment.....

Nahh, it's just Windows being Windows smile It does that from time to time. I second the advice about giving it a sweep of the old SpyBot/AdAware combo though just to make sure.
