im beginning to feel my Sport is in need of an overhaul, my main gripe is its lack of composure when the road gets rough and the feeling that the car is 'sitting on the rear' with the feeling that the front suspension isnt doing much and isnt very planted, the rear also feels stiff and has a slight yaw motion when you hit mid corner ridges etc
it also has a general brittle, overly stiff feel,

the car looks like it hasnt had any new suspension parts over its 70k miles so some new dampers are mor e than likely needed,
getting the car looked at by Gt-one soon just wondering if these symptoms sound familiar to any 968 owners here and any specific advice (i.e specific bushes/mounts etc)?

cheers all

Is this dejau vu with this question on another forum???
Go to 968.net...then forum...then modifications...
You can easily spend £1000+ replacing dampers and suspension on these.
I would buy M030 30mm front roll bar (hollow) and rear M030 which is 18mm beleive,,fit these with new bushes and drop link bushes all round...You can get these delivered from the US for about £280..I am sure you will notice an improvement in the pitch of the car.If this is not to your liking then you will have to fork out on dampers.
I prefer to do mods such as this on an individual basis that way you can see the difference roll bars and dampers make independantly.

ahhh, but i didnt ask a question on the other forum

just thought id get some more responses here as well though ill definitely look into the M030 rollbars as u suggested
gave it a a serious ragging over some poor roads yesterday to get a better idea of what im not liking, rollbars will improve hi speed handling but not low speed composure will they?
dampers, bushes and geometry setup are probably on the cards then

BTW i cant access the forum on 968.net, it just times out when i click o the discussion forum side link

Uprated ARB's a good improvement but will not fix the symptons you have.

I think possibly a weak torsion bar and or siezed or completly shot front or rear shocks.

A decent specialist (like GT1) should be able to point you in the right direction.

Edited coz i spell like a chimp

Thom I have 4 different e-mails from suppliers of M030 968 roll bars...all of these idiots seem to think that the front bar is 30mm (hollow) and the rear is 19mm.
I took the liberty of forwarding your 20mm quote in order that these suppliers and indeed Porsche GMBH may learn something.

How kind from you CS, I'm sure they will thank you

I got confused with the Cup rear sway bar that measures 21 mm.
You seem to be good at sending e-mails, I'd appreciate if you asked your contacts what they think about it ...

The 21mm is apparently a Weltmeister that a lot of guys fit in preference to the M030 which as you now comprehend is at least 19mm.
Either way Thom any improvement in girth is always welcome,so I am told??

Silly thing is I have all these quotes for M030 this / n/that...I don't have a 968 anymore...Doh!!!

Absolutely.
The Weltmeister is actually some sort of replica of the original turbo Cup sway bar of 21 mm which has become ridiculously expensive because of its rarity, I am told.

Maybe you can fit one on the 993 after all ?

No need mate the 993 RS comes with all you need and more! Fully adjustable front and rear shocks as well as 4 position front bar and 3 position rear bar..It made more sense to buy a car with all the possibilities rather than make additions to a standard car.

Following recent events with a mate be careful and check before you buy any MO30 bits for an original non-MO30 car as lots of the bits don't fit.

Check out this site:-

www.944s2.com/

I know it's 944 based but as far as I'm aware most of the suspension is basically the same and Tom seems to be VERY knowledable about what Porsche parts are interchangable.

I got a quote off Porsche-Apart for M030 anti roll bars for my S2, they get them direct from Porsche in Germany. the rear was about £90 and the front £205, but this was about a year ago. I read recently on Rennlist that the prices had gone up dramatically so it would be worth getting a new quote.
