Presume your 226 is at the fly?

My 97 400, no mods at all with 56k on the clock - 228.9 at the fly and 180 at the wheels!

I thought a certain 400 HC not a million miles from you had 278 bhp at the wheels!

Thats got to be rubbish hasn't it? Even the 500s can struggle for that sort of power....

My 450 in a standard-ish(ACT plenum,decat,Mark Adams chip)form showed 243 bhp at the flywheel

Clearly not the same formula being used to 'Gross up' the Rear Wheel figure into a Fly Wheel figure.

How are you guys getting your Fly numbers?

Hi how's it going.

Yeah the owner of said 4.0HC has the Tee Shirt to prove it too!

Ah but when you get them up over 120,000 miles on the clock they find an extra pocket of BHP - it's a bit like a computer game when you move up onto the next level.

You've no hope of getting there with the annual mileage you do.

Tell me about it!, I did manage a blast to Ile du Re back in summer, but still I don't reckon I did over 3k this year, how many did the Griff do?

I seem to average 5K a year regardless of what I do.

The print out from Austec on 2 test runs say:
1. max BHP 219.6, max speed 108.6, max torque 250.6 and max RPM 5034.
2. max BHP 180.3, Max speed 113.5, Max Torque 208.4, Max RPM 5034
I'm not sure what it all means but Paul tells me it's good so I'll take his word for it.

FWIW... my 450 has been measured at Austec and Surrey RR. Austec gave me (IIRC) about 235 at the fly, surrey gave me 259. I had put a new coil on and magnecors between the two measurements but the interesting bit is that on both RR's I got around 205 at the wheels. Cant recall what the torque was but I'm guessing it was similar for both as well. So both gave me the same at the wheels but very differnt at the fly. The figure for the fly depends how generous the calculation of the losses is.

ETA: Can. Worms. Open. Stand back and enjoy the popcorn....

Are figures taken from two different rolling roads at two different times(damp cold day v hot summer day) actually worth comparing?

There can be big differences between rolling roads especailly European V American systems. (The American ones generally read 10% higher)
