Car might be a write off
Discussion
Had an acident in the elise on Sunday and car is going into westover tomorrow to get a quote for the work. Needs Front and rear clam, full car respray, new alloy wheel and steering rack, oh and a rear difuser. Thats what I can see anyway. They might be able to repair the clams, dont know really but I imagine they would replace them. If the cost is too high, it might be the end of the sport 160

hit some deseil I think on the road, it was mega slippy anyway, lot shte backend, did some fish tailing at 50mph and lost the back in the end hitting the arco backwards and then flicking the front round and catching the front wing. Damage doesnt look really bad but being a lotus it will cost a lot to sort. Really depends on whether they can fix the clams or if they have to replace them. I'm going to have a good look tonight at the suspension on that side of the car to see if there is any obvious damage to anything else...
I'm all ok, just annoyed !!! Atleast after a full respray it will look like new..

Westovers don't fix, they only know how to replace...they quoted a rediculous amount to replace my sills as they make more cash replacing rather than fixing them. If you want I can put you in contact with Simon the guy who repaired my sills, he's awesome and is cheap too

on a S160 will be enough for the insurance company to writte it off
Good luck piooly
Gutted for you mate. People joke about the 'diesel on the road' stuff, but you're not new to that car so something was obviously amiss. It's amazing this time of year how the road surface can change every few yards. It must have sh1t you up, never a nice experience. Hope the insurance gets sorted......

Too right, I dont think any experience would have got me out of that mess. I corrected the sliding very quickly but it just kept going, It there had a been a little more space, probably would not have hit anything....The damage sounds a lot worse than it looks. As long as there is no suspension damage beside a new steering rack, going to whip the wheels off tonight and have a look, then its purely clam damage and a respray. You could fill the clams and re-paint, doesnt really need to be replaced but garages will always quote to replace....
Snap piooly! I went through some mud and water on Tue evening. Real dodgy road in the Fens with no run-off and 15ft ditches either side of the road. Back end went right first which I caught quickly but then fish-tailed to the left sending me across the road to the right hand ditch. Just caught this and the back end went round and over into the ditch closely followed by the front end.
Vindis have just finished totting up the repair bill at just under £13k so repairable.
Good luck with yours Oliver.
