They're kind of different, surely?

Taking the Noble (mid engined, supercar pace) as an example I'd think about the Ultima, Minotaur and Aeon. Expect well upwards of £20k build costs on the first two atleast (£40k+ for a decent Ultima at a guess?), but they are genuine Ferrari-eaters.

Depends what you want out of the car at the end of it - looks, acceleration, VMax, cornering, a mix, something retro, wind in your hair, etc, etc.

For out and out road and track performace, right now I'd go with a Murtaya.

Hmm, if looks are important then that's a few out of the running straight away.

Cobra style cars can offer a lot of fun, most can have a V8 with good looks. There's a large scope for cost (though all of them are pretty pricey) and spec.

The K-1 Attack looks good, but I've not heard from anybody that has god a V8 in there - I think there are some Ford Duratech V6 ones though. No idea how the car is dynamically as I've yet to read a review from somebody I trust (and to be fair, I stopped looking a looong time ago for reviews of the Attack).

The Murtaya is a very modern car, can be spec'ed a pretty long way up, has 4WD and looks good whilst still having practicality on par with a TVR (of which the older ones always suprise me with their generous boot space). Not seen one in the flesh to see what the interior is like though. They sound good with the Scooby flat 4 too.

Lots of others on the market too - Merlin 5exi has the look.

If you want something really hardcore the GDT70 may be what you are after - very (very) high build spec from what I've seen.

cheers for the thoughts .. still very early days .. just dont want anything like cobras , or 7 type things .. i might just have to go for the lambo replicas i guess...

I am after looks more than anything , but dont want it to look like a le-man type race car if you know what i mean .. which allot of them seem to be ..(guess most have come from a race back ground?)

Yep - Ulitma, GD T70, GT40 replica, Aon, Minotaur...

As with all things, you do get what you pay for though.

http://www.totalkitcar.com/home.php has a very comprehensive A to Z list of Kit car manufacturers with links to most of their websites, Just go to "UK Section" on the menu on the left.

Also has a Vehicle cross ref list that sorts them into types, most useful! smile

Why not score an old scabby griff and do a body-off restoration - they are essentially kit cars afterall.

If you want the supercar look, and are a bit brave then you could look to the states. The one that, IMHO, looks the mutts nuts is the Factory Five GTM car http://www.factoryfive.com/gtmhome.html no idea how real it is/what it's like to build/if it's any good etc, just looks nice!

Factory Five UK have plans to bring this to the UK. Personally, I can't wait!

ETA It will be renamed to avoid confusion with 'our' GTM.

Bugger - didn't know that. I know Dynamic Performance dropped it too as K1 were hard to deal with.
AFAIK there's no RHD kit from K-1 either - no idea how K2 carriage company got their's RHD!
