Who can tell me if the air restrictor plates in the front brake ducts come out, if so are they worth taking out for a track day..? or does any gravel and debris getting in there cause more trouble than cooking them..?

Does any one have track exp of these brakes, and what problems occur, and how hard you can lean on the brakes before they get too hot...?

Just push them out with your hand, simple and is better than nothing, brakes are not great but I used to track mine and still do in my Z4M and find that decent pads, fluid and hoses make a huge difference, enough not to warrant an AP kit IMO, AP's are superb but they're not £1200 better

I removed mine (E46 M3) nad changed the discs pads and fluid. Brakes ar enow good and consistent at any track. Would like the Ap /Brembo upgrade but do not think they would be much better.

Well, post track day comments... for any one whos interested, M3CS brakes on a track are fine, if you dont hang onto them too long..!, they do take a pasting into stowe braking from 125mph, and a few other bends are fairly hard on them, but in all for road car brakes they are fine, they do shake the steering wheel when really hot, but taking the front brake duct cooling vents out proved a good mod for the day. When cooled they didnt show any judder from distortion at all...

Tyre pressures.. well we got it hot on a few laps... chalk marked the tread blocks, and side wall to look at wear and roll.. and ended up with a good balance on the car with 40fr/44rr hot.... 36/40 cold... its trial and error here we got a little bit of understeer which we couldnt dial out, but the pilot sports were hurting at that point and a bit too hot..

Car is great fun on the track, but you will need to let the gt3 rs's past you ..!
