HELP!!!!

:CRY: HELP NEEDED

I went out for a short drive tonight after a hard day at work and just as I was about to put it to bed something has blown and fluid sqirted all over the drive! I have a bad power stearing fluid lead at the front of the tunnel! I think it maybe a pipe?? does anybody have any pics of the pipe layout or any info on getting to them or has anyone changed them? any help would be most welcome!

If it's definitely PS fluid, then the pipe run is not easy to follow. It must go down the tunnel & access to that isn't easy ! You'll need to get it up in the air and probably take the floor off. There are some cut outs you can look through but not many! Getting to the tunnel entrance from the front isn't easy either, just going to need a fair bit of time i'm afraid mate

Most common cause of leaks are the unions on the end of the pipes, check the two onto the oil cooler and the ones onto the steering rack.

Also check the oil cooler itself, I've had to replace mine twice due to cracks in the radiator.

Similar thing happened to Daddysumo at Donington IIRC. He managed to fix it there, so EM him through his Profile if he dosn't pick up this thread.

Daddysumo's went right up near the PS cooler because the bend was too tight and the preasure popped it. It was quite visable from the front of the car with the clam open!

My leak is right at the mouth of the tunnel, does anyone have any pics with the floor pan removed or any schematic drawings of the pipe layout ect? Richie :CRY:

Don't stress too much mate, it's no big problem. If you open the front clam, turn the wheels on right hand lock and look in through the chassis you will see the rack pipe connection. It's two pipes with a central bolt and bracket thingy (homemade!).
Either one of the o-rings is leaking or the pipe has split, one of my pipe was kinked (noted when I serviced it) so I had a new pipe made up using the original rack end and a new union for the cooler end, cost me £20. It is much easier to jack it up and remove the front pan if you are planning on doing it yourself.

Update! Leak found, it is the pipe from the pump to the rack which has burst. I had the car delivered to Christopher Neils today so should get a nice BIG bill

Had a call from Christopher Neils today, my new power steering pipe has arrived from the factory and is currently being fitted to the car. The pipe was £92+ Fitting. With a bit of luck the car will be ready to collect tomorrow

That's not too bad really. Good to hear it was an easy fix.
