Fiesta Clutch - weak hydraulics

The clutch on my sister's Fiesta will only disengage when the pedal is pushed right to the floor. It went in for a service today and the mechanic rang me to say that it was due to 'weak hydraulics' and was going to be a bit of a job.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?
