My car is trying to spit me out.

The door knob inside needs adjusting i think,
first if the drivers door is opened on its own, the door just slams without catching at times, and then today while driving, twice the drivers door just opened, not a lot of fun i can tell you.

I know there are adjustable ends on the ball, and at the door. is there a step by step guide to setting them correctly ?

Remoyve the center console leaving the bolsters in place and wind the white plastic adjuster in a couple of turns....or at the solenoid end the cable is fixed with a couple of solderless nipples...undo and adjust from there.

5 minute job and is very easy.

I know where the adjusters are, but is there a certain way they should be set, ie both cables tight at the ball end or some slack etc

Some slack, make sure the cables are not being fouled on something first (someone might have just put the console back clumsily..) and give them a bit of lubrication. They are only on bicycle maintenance technology standards hehe
