Hi all.
Can anyone help.
I have a mint S2 but the ball joint on the wiper mech on drivers side is worn.
I have replaced the connecting arm twice now but this only lasts about a year.....
I have tried to order the wiper linkage complete from porsche but they dont have any and have just refunded my money... No Help...
Does anyone have any ideas.
Cheers

If you've replaced the connecting arm (the cup) & it still keeps coming apart then replace the wiper arm (the ball).

Keep it greased up, the rain tends to wash away the grease increasing wear. You could try a rubber band or similar to keep it in place as a short-term solution.

Try giving Hartech a ring. They have a fix but it's so long ago since I had my S2 I've forgoton what it was.

What went wrong, I remember mine being pretty straightforward.

It is about £250 for a replacement the mech, It is a good mornings work to replace, time consuming rather than difficult.

I replaced mine this time last year as I got fed up of buying arms when it was the ball that was worn.

PJS...
I was quoted only £60 from porsche for the part so I ordered it only to be told a few days later they didnt have any.
Were did you buy yours from?
With reguards to fitting it.
When I fitted the first arm I removed the mech to do it and as you said its not difficult just loads of screws to remove to get it out.
Would health like to know were to buy one as just like you fed up of replacing the arm.

Stu,

I got mine from a main Porsche dealer, it maybe they have reduced the price
as Porsche do from time to time. Try ringing around a few dealers as they may
offer different prices.

You have to be careful fitting a new part - cracked windscreens are not uncommon.

An easier mod is to pop it back on (or better still a new arm) then drill a small 3mm hole dowm through the centre of the arm and ball, get a large and small washer with a 3.5-4mm hole in and slip a long 3mm split pin into the small washer - down through the hole, put the large washer on the bottom and flick/bend the edges of the split pin out to lock it - it will never fall off again.

Nice one Baz.
Will give it a go when the weather warms up.
The latest linkage should last the winter..

Thanks everyone for your advice...

This is (roughly) what I did to my S2. I tired of the elastic bands trick to keep it held together; have also seen cable ties use to some effect. I went for the hole with a small bolt, washers either side and a nyloc nut. It's not fallen off since.
