Hi

Has anyone done any advanced road driver training with Bernard Aubry? If so, what did you think?

Thanks

In every sense of the word, he is brilliant, one of the best available. You cannot spend your money more wisely. You will be thrilled.

Bernard is on my list of people I want to drive with in the not-too-distant future.

With regard to the now (properly) closed HPC subject and to driver training in general.

I would love to be able to afford to drive with Bernard ( I do NOT mean he is expensive, just that I am skint!)

In the meantime, I repeat my comment on the now closed subject, ANY further driving education is worthwhile...now comes the selling bit folks!

As a lowly IAM Observer, I have had around ten hours of assistance from retired and serving Class 1 Trafpols in the last few months...free of charge, and I felt that they enjoyed passing on experience.

All this from having an interest in joining the IAM some years ago, and having the help of some real professionals who have forgotten more than I will ever know .

All this for £85! Less if you are younger!

I'd certainly agree. I was introduced to a police advanced instructor when I used to observe for the IAM, and benefitted tremendously from their willingness to coach at a time when I couldn't comfortably afford instruction. While I don't see so much of him these days, I still look forward to any opportunity to make a downpayment on my debt of gratitude to this guy, most recently by way of loaning him a quick car for some laps of Spa.

As for Bernard, I've met him a few times and taken instruction from him once. A real gentleman and classy driver, with a background including instructing for PCGB and co-driving for HPC.

I think I know how you feel Willy...that's why I am out almost every week as an Observer...trying to pass on to the punters what the Pros have passed to me.

When I sometimes tire of it, I sometimes imagine that I can prevent people like Von knocking on doors late at night...or that one day the IAM test will be the minimum...just a dream, but keeps me going...

That's commendable, BOF.

I'm much less altruistic.

I've been out with Bernard many times, and totally agree with the comments above. He's a dear old boy now but a true gentleman and a master of his craft. If you haven't already booked, mention me - Robert Prince at the Porsche club and you'll get a discount, I've recommended many to him before.

Before anyone cynical asks, he's not my uncle or anything and I don't get a fee, I just arranged an offer for the Porsche guys last summer.

Enjoy !
