Oil pan for a Getrag box.

Hi Kyle,
I have sent you mail. I think this is the pan that I ordered will check tonight when I get home.

I do know that you fit the starter motor to the adaptor plate first before mounting the plate to the engine. There is restricted access between the adaptor plate and the sump, there is also very little space between the starter live connections and the wing of the sump, so make sure you insulate the live starter bolt!!

If all you need to do is make some room for the starter then I would mod the original.
Would some TLC with a hammer do the job or does it require more than that?
Before you do anything with it do make sure the engine goes in as many have found the sump they have is just a bit too deep.
Steve
PS anyone want to buy a very pretty trapdoor SBC sump that does not fit an Ultima?

the sump you are selling steve will it work with the getrag box?? ie the starter motor on the sump side of the trans as opposed to the g50.Would some TLC with a hammer do the job or does it require more than that?

it will require cutting and welding but i have had a good look at it and it doesnt look impossible, do you think it will be ok welded?? it is only a small area at the to of the sump.

i have spoken to Scott and he says modify it, he also said that the sump has been designed for use with high revs, extra windage and baffling. He also said if i return it he will credit me on it??
Yes please bring the engine stand with you tomorrow.
thanks mate
I have the same setup.......Getrag box with Canton pan. Have had the trans and starter off many times sorting out a rear main oil leak. It is a tight fit. The trick is to tighten the wiring connections to the starter before bolting the starter to the adapter plate. I found it best to install the starter after the trans was bolted up as you can only istall the top bolt anyway prior to bolting up the trans. It does require quite a bit trial and error to get the wires positioned so that they will not bind (or short)against the top of the sump. When installing the botton starter bolt (the one that goes through the trans housing) wedge a screw driver between the bolt head and the sump housing to hold it while you tighten the other end (the space is too tight for a socket or open end).
