How many Elise's/Exiges are in use this winter?
Discussion
I spent 5 hours yesterday cleaning the elise, getting all the grit etc off the bottom and giving it a really good wash and polish before putting it back in the garage with a cover over it until probably end of jan.
Am I sad? Do you lot use your elise's through the winter?
cant really take full advantage of the car when its soo icey!

Mine's been in the garage for over a month now - no way am I going to use my car in that salt and weather conditions. There wouldn't be any fun in that anyway. Rather put in the garage til Spring comes and enjoy it even more and to its fullest.
Ends up being better on my wallet as well that way. Win-Win.

I did actually SORN mine at the end of November as I was intending to lay her up and give the suspension a thorough going over. Unfortunately a change in circumstances (lost my job - careless!) means I've lost my other car so I ran her in to get a new MOT yesterday.
Using her in the winter has never worried me (I bought mine in December). Its unusual to get ice/snow (except on the Moors) down in this part of the world so only the wet and muck (just as bad as ice often) to worry about. I love my Elise but when it comes down to it dirt and muck will wash off - I spent the best part of two days last March cleaning her post winter and loved every minute of it.

Gave mine a good clean yesterday, followed by a roof down drive to Brighton and back (for fish and chips, you understand). Had the back end twitch slightly a couple of times putting down the power when exiting roundabouts. All at fairly low speed, though.
I find topless runs on cold, clear winters's nights a real thrill. The engine seems extra potent in the ice cold air, too.
I try and avoid using her on wet roads this time of year though, as most of them are covered in salt.
As I have no garage to properly store her in, I reckon the best thing is to drive her now and again to prevent possible problems with brakes siezing, tyres flat spotting, battery going flat, condensation in the exhaust, etc.

Roof off at 7:15 this morning on the way to work.
Going to Plymouth (300 mile trip) tomorrow afther work and the roof will be off as long as it's not raining.
I used to ride a motorbike year round until a few years ago so the Elise is luxury in comparison.
I did get frosty seats last night though when I was too lazy to use the shower cap!
