It seems to me that the Motoring News forum doesn't serve any useful purpose. Most of the threads seem to be of the same sort as those in the General Gassing forum and the Speed Plod and the Law forum, and are often duplicates of threads already running in those forums. One of the things I like about the Pistonheads forums is their simplicity of use, partly because they are not separated into different categories just for the sake of it, but this seems to be an exception.

I did a search for this in case it had been discussed before, but couldn't find anything.

The motoring news section is initially for news on the motoring industry and the general gassing is for people talking generally about cars. I do admit that these lines are slightly blurred at times and thus we constantly review the effectiveness of forums and their content, and thus we will continue to review these two forums.

That's quite a subtle distinction and judging by the topics posted on the two forums, not one that many members 'get'. It doesn't bother me massively; it just seems silly to have a forum that's a very close duplicate of two other forums.

It harps back to the days before P&P. It was created to try and keep sensible stuff in Motoring News as GG was more general purpose. The P&P eventually resolved that properly.
