It appears that the hot/cold control temperature control dial in my 95 S4s is broken. At once point I felt normal resistance when making temperature adjustments, but now it seems to be stuck in the maximum cold setting. The resistance I felt when turning the dial is gone and the temperature remains the same even turned to max heat.

I'm assuming something has come loose deeper within the dash. The dial itself is firmly attached to the shaft, ie: plastic dial not broken or stripped. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar and if this is an easy fix, or does part of the dash have to be removed to reach that area?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Remove the radio from the pod and you will see the actuator cam with a cable clamp on it. You can also check the knob side while you are at it. If you want to just take a look at it just stick your head in the foot well pull the carpet back a bit and have a look.
