probably not an appropriate subject for ph but have noticed a few "legal people" on here so will ask, regarging the hip packs recently introduced, can anyone explain why this comprehensive crock of s***e costs £500.00 yet is not recognised by either the purchaser or the vendors solicitors or surveyors, meaning depite the "wealth of information" contained in it you still have too have a survey going over much of the same ground again paying full up fees to a surveyor. is their a point to it,or is there any new information in it that would not be spotted during a full survey?

Us lawyers having been telling the Goverment that since the idea was first floated years ago, now they are here we can all seehow they add notihing to the sale or purchase sale for Extra Costs.

The HIP world has now created another industry of HIP providers, shame that the HIPs that are provided are next to useless and go out of date.

If you want an answer to you question, it would be better directed at Goverment bods.

Most of the rest of us feel that they are a waste of time effort and money. They are poorly thought out, planned and implimented.

Strictly speaking it's not another steath tax.

What it does, is make the governments jobless figures look better than they otherwise would, because it keeps a whole load of people employed, despite being largely pointless jobs.

I expect that the whole HIP industry will be absorbed by government, and employees converted to civil servants, before the legislation is quietly dropped.

I think the point of them is to alert the purchaser of any issues that may come up in the survey before they make an offer, thus stopping them from pulling out at the last minute when they see something scary in the survey.

This stops the chain falling apart and ensures offers complete.

That's the theory, pretty dumb that you have to get a survey as well though.
