This probably should be in the food forum but its a bit quiet in there.

In the Christmas markets at the mo there are lots of people selling hot nuts covered in sugary stuff (and also savoury ones too). What on earth are they called? I want to make some but can't google nutty sugary things as it just wont work.

What the bleedin hell are they?

They are coloured and hard shells...... I'm thinking of a sort of dry roasted thing but sugary instead.

Have you got any idea how I can make them? I know that they taste very nice and would like some more.

there is of course the roasted horse chestnuts, but I'm thinking it's more pine nuts coated in sweet/savory stuff that you are on about.

I have the stuff and about to go into the kitchen. Couldn't find any unsalted peanuts so I might just wash salted ones and put them in the oven on a very low heat to dry again. Ahh got to love bodged jobs.

Have a small care there. As far as I know, salted peanuts are roasted, so you're toughening them up a little more. While its not strictly necessary to shell your own from monkey nuts, I think uncooked, skin on ones might be better. Still, am awaiting the results with interest....

Tried both recipes - not tried yours yet Catz.

Marcus - quick easy done and tasty.

Mine - still drying out, need sleep, hate them now, stupid nuts.

Hmmm...
