Hi,a friend has a 89SE and was talking about getting some slicks just for fun track days. The question is, were these cars built to take slicks? Meaning added stress on suspension for harder cornering and more strain on the engine lubrication wise. I am thinking not but would like to hear who does it. My friend does drive like a mad man on the track and common for him to swap ends.
Cheers

Not sure about the technical side of things but can anyone recommend some tyres. I've looked into Dunlop Formula R cut slicks which are UK road legal but they don't make them to fit the S4s apparently. I'd like some super sticky tyres that I could drive there and back on.

Cheers

Never done a track day myself... but i have had some discussions with some of the elise guys who do. You need to consider that the extra grip you get with slicks will put considerable extra strain on the vehicle, transmission, drive shafts etc. There may also be issues with the extra cornering forces causing fuel/oil starvation.

Agree with Dan that maybe sticker road tyres may be a better option.

E.g. Pirelli P Zero Corsa (like the new 360 Challenge Stradale has):

Or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
