Window tinting. Legal requirements?

Wonder if one of the BIB's can answer this one for me.
Side glass is tinted as is the rear screen, the windscreen isnt, (illegal ).
Whats the legal amount of "tint" allowable?
Obviously you have to be able to see out, and is there some way of measuring it? aside from taking it to the local "cruze" and getting ploddy to very nicely pull me over?
