Cerbera Battery Replacement- Dumb question no.2 for the day!
Discussion
Hi..
so second dumb question of the day... Battery on cerb has finally given up and playing silly buggers... trying to remove the old... and have done the following so far..
- Taken off the Air Induction box
- Taken off cowling that covers top of battery
- Removed retainig bolt that clamps battery down
Tried to shift the batter out, and it snags on the retaining nut / thread that facilitates the clamp... What are the next steps - and am i really being this dumb.
thanks for any response...
Cheers,
Stu.

Some batteries are short enough to get over the clamp but others require the clamp to be removed.
It is held in by two bolts. If you are lucky then the bolts go into two threaded brass nuts that are glassed into the body. In which case they should come undone from above - but take care you don't want to rip them out trying to undo the bolts.
If you are unlucky then the bolts are into nuts that are glued with silicon to the underside of the wing. In which case you need to remove the panel above the passengers knees to get at them and you will need another pair of hands or mole grips to hold them whilst you undo the bolt.
When replacing make sure you seal around the holes with silicon otherwise there will be a veritable waterfall into the footwell when it rains

I did mine by gripping the battery under the ledge and pulling up very quickly, that will get it out, to get it back in you need apiece of springy steel to use like a shoe horn ,not forgetting to attach the earth lead .Dont do like i did and get a 072 battery with raised terminals it needs to have recessed terminals or it will not go in the slot.
Changed mine yesterday - absolute nightmare. Took me an hour, Battery came out no problem - although i did end up snapping the small black hose that fits to the air box... does anyone know what this is for and how early i need to get it fixed??? I bought an 072 battery from halfwitts - it looked the same height as my old battery and it had raised terminals... I didnt know the raised bolt could be removed - ended up sitting on the engine and kicking the brute in. Battery went in eventually and no damage caused..... hopefully. Why is everyhting so complicated on these cars???!! If i had to do it again id take it to a garage.

Mine's an 072 calicum from Halfords, went in without any issues whatsoever

Hi Stevo
Thats the impulse line for the barometric pressure sensor. The ECU makes slight adjustments to the engine depending on the barometric pressure. It's not a critical fix but get it done when you can.

Its not the oil breather pipe then?Thats the impulse line for the barometric pressure sensor. The ECU makes slight adjustments to the engine depending on the barometric pressure. It's not a critical fix but get it done when you can.

Went for an optima red top in the end.... Fits with room to spare and is about 50% more powerful than the 072....
