i have been given the task of getting a sat nav for my mother

Which one is the simplest to operate

Not easy it needs to be completely and utterly idiot proof

....you could buy one that's wrapped in a Range Rover. They're easy to use.

I just bought the new 'S' series Navman. It's the S70 which has a few more gadgets than mother might use, but the model under is worth a look at.

Has a great touch screen with large buttons and touch voice recognition when you type in addresses or postcodes.

I got my Mum a Tom Tom One and she is very pleased.

I chose it after my 90 year old Grandad recommended it for its simplicity yes
