DS - Is it worth buying & if so, what games should I get?

The question is in the title - I was thinking about buying one after christmas with, hopefully, the £100 christmas money I should acquire on christmas day.

Iam not sure the DS has enough to keep a 22 year old young lady entertained, what do you think?

Is the DS worth buying and if so what games should I consider???

Get one and Grab Zelda: Phantom Hourglass with it.

I bought it over a month back, didn't touch it until my TV and Xbox packed up inside one week, leaving me with only a couple of options of consoles to play, decided to give Zelda a whirl and like every other Zelda game ever it has it's claws into me big-time.

Barely been off the DS since I started playing it and even my Girlfriend has started nagging me for a go, it's very simple to play, yet still gets the old grey-matter going and really requires you to think out of the box for a lot of the puzzles.

The DS has enough to keep anyone amused.

My girlfriend loves Brain Training, Elite Beat Agents, Mario Kart and Starfox - but really, any genre of game that you like playing elsewhere you'll find good examples of on the DS.

My missus has one and loves it. She's got quite a few games but she's really into Super Mario & that brain training thing.

I've also got her the Zelda game for christmas as she said she'd like it.

If you are buying a ds, you may be interested in the R4 cartridge.

I've used my mates, and it does everything it says on the tin.

Big catch right now is getting hold of one.

Housemate found out Saturday that his mum wants one for christmas, he did a sweep of all the local stores, then checked further afield, none in stock.

The only places on-line that claimed to be able to get them were charging a premium - he was quoted up to £150.

Well I wont be picking one up until after xmas so I hope the pre-xmas mad rush for them will pass and there will be some back in stock. I seem to be quite lucky finding out of stock products in stock at the right time.

So if you had to do a list of the top 5 DS games - what would they be? (I dont want mario karts!)

New Super Mario Bros is the only game I've got for it that I can't put down. It's like Super Mario World from the SNES.

What's the big deal with the R4? I've had no problems with the M3DS.

Had one for a while now, i only really use it for puzzle games when on long haul flights but i love it.

Advanced Wars is a great strategy game if you like that sort of thing. It will keep you highly entertained and usually pulls stonking reviews

And this is from a 21year old female who definitely recommends you get one! Oh and I *think you'll need to buy the browser to use the net on DS unless you mean connecting up to play your friends.

Just never really liked Mario, dont know why really.

I have however just ordered a DS from amazon and also mysims as they were doing a deal if you buy the game with the console. I have also gone for the express delivery so I will get it thursday!! yay

Animal Crossing
Etrian Odyssey (probably a bit hard-core RPG for most people though)
Age of Empires
PuzzleQuest: Challenge of the Warlords

42 all time classics, Anno 1701 and Zelda all look pretty good too

You shouldn't need anything else (I didn't to get Animal Crossing online). Only word of warning is that the DS can't use WPA, only WEP so if you have your router set to WPA, you'll need to turn the settings down to get your DS online which is a real pain...

Trauma Centre, Under the knife is also worth a look
you can also get Mario 64 (port from the old N64) which should be good
oh and Worms 2....great game
