Just bought one of these as a Christmas gift for the folks:

http://www.transcendusa.com/products/ModDetail.asp...

Just about to wrap it after spending quite a while filling it with pictures of the family for them. Seems like I'm not alone, they're 2nd only to GPS gadgets as the "hot item" this Christmas.

I have to say I rather like it, and it should be simple enough for them to manage with. Thinking about getting one for myself, but not this one (don't particularly like the frame design). Anyone tried any other models? I'm particularly interested in the Kodak "wireless" devices that can apparently download new images from the internet automatically...

I quite like the idea of the ones that grab your photos from Flickr.

The Gadget show last week had a wireless one that had it's own email address.

Anyone can email it a picture and it will "appear".

Pretty cool / scarey depending on your point of view.

I've had one of these for about 5 years now (sad early adopter type). The wireless thing is a bit of a pain to be honest, as it tries everything in it's power to screw up one's internet wi-fi connection. However the upside is that the 'own IP address' is pretty cool as I used to e mail photos down to the nursing home my mother was in, and they'd appear on her screen without her having to do a thing (which was just as well!).

Things have moved on and prices have tumbled, but I've yet to see a REALLY good one. (BTW, as mine is so old it has rubbish picture quality - but has a real mahogany frame! Go figure)

One of these days Martin, I'll buy a Noble - then I can join you in the sub-zero dept.
