Engine management light:cry:

Got an E46 M3 and ocasionally the engine management lights come on when I start the car and it goes into 'limp' mode! It only happens when the engine is cold.
If I turn the ignition off then on again once or twice the light goes out and the car runs normally!
Anyone any ideas what this could be before taking it to BMW and spending all of my Christmas drinking money

Can only speculate really: Lambda sensor
As the engine check light comes on it will be diagnosed quickly.

The only way of telling is by plugging it in.
Give your local specialist a call who may pop in a peake reader for free and be able to tell you on the pre-tense that you get it booked in.
BMW will charge you £20 or so pounds for the privalidge of their mechanics 5mins of time.
It could be any number of things, Cam/crank position sensor, MAF,02 sensors etc etc
