Part number for bonnet release cable - 1994 Chim 5HC
Discussion
Hi,
Lifted the bonnet to find out why my bonnet release was so stiff. Cable was knackered and about to snap!!!!!!...but what part is it?
From searching on here it seems to be a Landrover part. Has anyone got the part number for a Chimaera?
I saw this posted for a Griffith:
Land rover part number is ALR7062.
Will it be the same for a Chimaera?
I will be ordering from Austria and hoping to pick it up in UK over Xmas.
Thanks,
m4rk

The LR one seems the same handle, but it will be rather long and might need cutting down. Are you sure its cheaper then buying in Austria / Germany?
I think quite a few have simply replaced the cable with bicycle spare parts
Some screw on nipples (down you perverts!) from VWP are always handy to have

Not sure if this link will work but Clever Trevor does them

Ahh, it doesn't. Go on their website and search for "bonnet release cable".
How DO you post up a link BTW?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The link doesn't work because its direct to the jpg and they have blocked direct access to images, also known as leaching. I tried the main page but it causes my IE to freeze!
I assumed it would be specifc part not a generic one because it has to be fitted to the bracket under the dash. I also assume it comes with the knob attached to the inner cable and an outer sheath, all as one part.
My original bonnet pull has broken outer sheath, on the end inside the engine bay and the inner cable is badly frayed. If I cut a new outer sheath to get it to fit I would end up with an untidy end!!!
I will check it out some more when back in the UK.

All "universal" bonnet cables are made to fit on to a bracket. The knob is as you say, connected to the inner part but it can slide out completely if need be.Check out ebay - Item number: 270179489665
