'scuze me mate, you've left your lights on!!
Discussion
Is it just me?
I'm fairly new to my MkV Golf GTi, so still find the "toys" quite novel.
One of the swish features I quite liked is the automatic headlights, great for showing off whilst walking across a dark car park, but also, in my opinion, they're quite useful.
However, I have lost count of the number of times I get phone calls from the receptionist at work "you've left your lights on, again" or walking away from the car at Tesco's and some helpful bloke pipes up "scuze me mate, you've left your lights on".
Now they're only trying to help, but how much of a ponce do you sound explaining the fancy lights feature??
So, a straw pole: Am I alone in my frustration with people who, out of sheer kindness, are trying to prevent me getting a flat battery?
Has anybody else resorted to switching the "automatic" headlights off, just to avoid having to explain yourself?

I just wave and go inside, they nromally turn off just at the point that makes them look like an idiot!
I'm sure that's all very amusing for you, but personally I think it is a bit unfair to be happy that someone who was going out of their way to save you the inconvenience of having a flat battery is made to look like an idiot. You ungrateful bastard. madrob6 said:
Don't know about that but I was left scratching my head first time I left my Passat parked with the indicator still on and one side of the exterior lights were on. Recently noticed various other vag cars with the same thing so it's not just me.
Blimey, my old Mk1 Polo used to do that back in the 80s..... Parking lights! Have always been annoyed ever since with cars that don't!used to have a problem with my mk1 golf that whenever i braked to headlights would come on, went on for months with people coming out of junctions etc in front of me thinking i was letting them out!!! only realised when i once pulled up in front of a shop window and saw my lights flashing with the touch of my brake pedal
